Yorkshire’s in its finery

It’s almost as though everything was waiting for the cold to pass and spring has happened in about two weeks. We can hardly keep up – the daffs have no sooner finished than the blossom and lilac are out. the views from the hotel are beautiful and we’re offering a fabulous two night offer so you can make the most of it. What are you waiting for?

Five stars for our hygiene rating!

Great excitement here – we have retained our five stars for hygiene from Kirklees Council. The system is called Scores on the Doors www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk – and it is a public information service whereby you can find local council rating for cleanliness. Obviously this si something that is really important to us, so it great news to have got top marks again.

We are glad to see the back of the snow, lovely though the countryside looked, and are looking forward to spring. There are vague signs of it in the woods around the hotel. lloking forward to seeing you for a well-earned break!

Our Website Nominated For An Award!

Here at the Bagden Hotel we are thrilled that our website has been nominated for an award! Classic Lodges, our hotel group and creators of the website and this blog, have worked hard to design something we think represents Bagden Hall in the best possible way. We hope if you agree you’ll vote for us. To do that please click on this link and select www.classiclodges.co.uk on the drop down menu to vote for it.

Our thanks to all the people behind the website that made this nomination possible!

Haworth Village 1940’s Weekend

Saturday 15th May – Sunday 16th May 2010
Each spring Haworth hosts a very special 1940’s weekend. Organised by the Haworth Village Association, the event sees locals and visitors alike parading the village, dressed in period 1940’s outfits. There are many nostalgic re-creations to enjoy, including an R.A.F. vintage aircraft flypast and morale boosting visits from ‘Sir Winston Churchill’ and the ‘Queen Mother’.
Everywhere, the village is alive with the sites and sounds of the era, as authentic swing jive dancing is performed both on the streets during the day and at especially arranged dances in the evenings. Spivs and ‘honest’ street vendors ply their wares amongst the rows of military and period vehicles, whilst street entertainers recapture the music and performances of the time.
It is virtually impossible to avoid being swept away by the warm feeling of nostalgia that holds Haworth in its spell during this most magical of weekends.
